I wrote this piece during my studies at the University of Houston for Ardore and Andrea Walker. I loved everything about this simple text, and I kept it on my mind while walking around the trees from my apartment to class. You can hear Ardore premiere it here!

My heart is like a singing bird
Whose nest is in a water’d shoot;
My heart is like an apple-tree
Whose boughs are bent with thickset fruit;
My heart is like a rainbow shell
That paddles in a halcyon sea;
My heart is gladder than all these
