SATB, piano

A lyrical piece about the connectivity between all things in nature and the strength to be brave in the face of adversity. “Though we may not have been called heroes, that does not mean we are not brave.”

Text

We are the song
of the multitudes
of the stars.

We are earth
bending towards the sun;
precipitous dream clouds;
and the rain drops
that surge to the flood.

We are the pebbles in the stream;
the yearning of the squash blossom
and the patience of the bee.

We are the bearers of fortune;
existence denied;
the manifest skyline
and the chapel on the hill.

We are the obstacle;
the furnace; the fuel;
the makers of meaning.

We are the rustle of leaves in the pages of time.

Though we not have been called heroes
that does not mean
we are not brave.

– Robert Ressler (b. 1988)
