SA and piano
This piece sets a simple choral melody against a harmonically rich accompaniment. It will work beautifully for children’s choir or women’s chorus in church or concert settings. Voices are mostly unison, splitting to SA occasionally. The contrasting middle section moves through various key areas and includes some chromaticism, but the voices are usually in unison and always supported by the piano.
Composer’s Notes
In the summer of 2017 I set out to compose the music I wasn’t finding elsewhere for my
women’s church choir: simple, wellconstructed, melodically compelling music that set
meaningful biblical texts. In this case, Gounod’s adaptation of Isaiah 52:7 lent itself
perfectly to a new setting.
