Every Child Has Known God
A playful, fun, highly rhythmic piece with an opportunity for dance collaboration.
SATB, sop soli (2), hard shoe dancer (may substitute with bodhrán)
Every Child Has Known God is playful, fun, highly rhythmic with soprano soli (2) and presents an opportunity for dance collaboration. It is the final movement from a colorful, varied trio of settings for advanced mixed ensemble settings of mystical poets featuring unconventional accompanying forces; e.g., bassoon trio, marimba ensemble, contrabass, singing bowl, accordion.
Text
Every child has known God,
Not the God of names,s
Not the God of don’ts,
Not the God who ever does
Anything weird,
But the God who knows only four words.
And keeps repeating them, saying:
“Come dance with Me.”
Come
Dance.
