“SONG OF SKY AND SEA: A Song of Realization” is a dynamic, narrative cycle based on translations of Hafiz, Kabir, and Rumi. This second movement, “The Infinite Dwelling,” explores the vast expanse we encounter after the journey from the physical to the spiritual in “At Every Instant.” Four fleeting soloists create a shimmering texture underneath a glacier of sound from the main choir, making this a fascinating and altogether exciting whirlwind of music for both the audience and your men!
Composer’s Notes
“The Infinite Dwelling” is designed to be a juxtaposition between very fast, agile movement and glaciers of sound. Make sure the four soloists have as much freedom as possible within their lines, but stay consistent (and slow!) with the main choir. The space between these different parts is what gives it the effect.
