Cantate Domino
Is a raucous piece full of twisting harmonies and building explosions of sound.
TTBB a cappella
Cantate Domino, one of Paul John Rudoi’s most exciting works for male voices, is a raucous piece full of twisting harmonies and building explosions of sound. A review of the work from the Star Tribune said that the performing ensemble “responded with a joyous enthusiasm in this almost pop setting of the Latin text.”
Composer’s Notes
The goal is for it to feel almost pop-like. Aim for a fun, exciting interpretation!

Text
Cantate Domino canticum novum:
Sing unto the Lord a new song:
cantate Domino omnis terra.
Sing unto the Lord, all the earth.
Cantate Domino, et benedicte nomini ejus:
Sing unto the Lord, bless his name:
annuntiate de die in diem salutare ejus.
show forth His salvation from day to day.
Annunciate inter gentes gloriam ejus,
Declare his glory among the heathen,
in omnibus populis mirabilia ejus.
His wonders among all people.
Quoniam magnus Dominus, et laudabilis nimis.
For the Lord is great, and greatly to be praised.
