SATB a cappella

Commissioned by James Rodde and the Ames Chamber Artists, “Walk” takes care to explore the green hills, lush forests, and clear skies created by local poet Howard P. Johnson. Full of life and mystery, colors constantly shift and change as the eye lights upon different aspects of the scene. A warm and inviting piece worthy of performing in a concert or program about the never-ending delights of nature.

Text

Would you come with me and share
a walk through nearby woods along the creek?
The matted path meanders near the bank.
Spring beauties and blue violets blossom there.
Clouds of white anemones, like winter’s snow,
around the slopes nearby.
The day is warm. Walk with me.

— Howard P. Johnson
