Ring in the new year with peace and truth!
SSAA Chorus with Handbells
Commissioned by Stacy Oh and the Villa Park High School Bella Voce, this piece features an established SSAA chorus and handbells to ring in the new year. The text asks the listener to ring in the new year by releasing the old. Letting go of everything that is false and embracing what is true. The vocal lines are inspired by classic holiday corals with the ease and flow they offer to not only the performers but to the listener. The accompanied handbells are played by members of the chorus and add an atmospheric texture to the performance. The ending has a rolling climax that leaves the performance space ringing from the four-part voices and collection of bells. “Ring Out, Wild Bells” would work in programs themed around the new year or holiday and winter concerts.
