SATB a cappella

“Sing to the Lord,” a setting of Psalm 96, moves through chant and hymn-like melodies before building to a fast-paced, fulfilling climax that makes this piece a solid choice for an opener or closer. This piece was premiered by the Harmonium Choral Society under the direction of Anne Matlack in Madison, NJ after winning Harmonium’s Student Choral Composition Contest. Composed when Trumbore was just seventeen years old, “Sing to the Lord” is the earliest work in her choral catalogue.

Text

Sing to the Lord a new song,
Sing to the Lord all the whole earth.
Sing to the Lord and bless his Name;
Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day.
Declare His glory among the nations,
and His wonders among all peoples.

— adapted from Psalm 96
