for SATB choir with optional descant and piano

“The Power of Many” brims with positive energy, a great tune, engaging piano, and easy-to-learn harmonies. Sprinkle some fairy dust on your audience with this enchanting piece!

Composer’s Notes

An optional repeat may be added at Letter F, as well as an optional vamp repeat at Letter I. These sections may serve as an audience sing-along moment on the soprano melody and can be extended for as long as feels appropriate in performance.

The piano part may be played as written or performed more freely based on the chord symbols. The harmonic progression and overall groove are more important than strict adherence to the notated accompaniment, as the piano part is conceived with a song-based sensibility rather than a strictly classical one.

Bass and drum set may be added to create a more energized, contemporary arrangement, following the indicated chord progression and groove.

Vocally, this piece may be approached in a singer-songwriter style, incorporating scoops and pop inflections, or with a more traditional choral tone. Ensembles are encouraged to choose the approach that best serves their singers and the expressive intent of the piece.

Text

Oh little star, do you know how bright you shine with your galaxy?
Oh little bird, can you see the flocks you form with your family?
Oh little drop, hear the roar you make with the wave as you crash at sea?
Together we can be better than we believe

Oh little flame, do you feel the fiery warmth that your embers bring?
Oh little branch, can you feel our roots connecting both you and me?
Oh little breeze, feel the change you make with your whisper so wild and free?
Together we can be better than we believe

So carry this song on your shoulder
Make it big, brighter, and bolder
Carry it further and wider
The power of many, many
So carry this song on your shoulder
Let it live louder and longer
Our voices move mountains together
The power of many, many

On a precipice we stand
But if we fall, we will not land
We will move forward and onward and upward
Voices united, never outnumbered
