Composer’s Notes

I wrote this poem for Ryan Heller long before even considering setting it to music. I am Light is about the acceptance and celebration of oneself and those who surround us. The other side of this piece is unbelievable: While writing I am Light, ironically, Venezuela was facing one of the longest power cuts ever. As a Venezuelan living outside of my country, I felt hopeless and guilty to be writing this song. It is in my hope that one day we can sing this piece as a celebration for better times for my country. -Carlos Cordero
