Until Tomorrow
In a time of isolation and fear, “Until Tomorrow” holds on to the hope singing, dancing, and being together once again.
SATB Chorus with divisi, Soli, & Piano
This works offers hope for the future of being together once again. Written as a response to the global pandemic and the following lockdown, Until Tomorrow was a finalist in the “A Song for Our Time” competition judged by composer Jason Robert Brown. There are three major solos throughout the piece and each feature a different aspect of longing for togetherness and belonging. The choir envelops the chorus with lush harmonies and the piano carries the heartbeat of a people divided at a time when they need each other the most. This piece will offer any program a sentimental moment for reflection on how we truly need one another in the most trying of times.
Text
Waves of restless wonder,
are washing over me.
I try to settle in the stillness,
but I can hardly breathe.
Until tomorrow comes,
when dawn is in our sight.
The melodies we sing,
will ring in harmony through this bitter night.
I’m dreaming of a hand in mine,
a whisper in my ear.
I want to join the dance again;
hold those I held so dear.
Until tomorrow comes,
when dawn is in our sight.
The melodies we sing,
will ring in harmony through this bitter night.
A world of voices echo,
across borders, land, and sea.
Until tomorrow comes, we sing for strength,
sing for hope, sing for peace.
Until tomorrow comes,
when dawn is in our sight.
The melodies we sing,
will ring in harmony through this bitter night.
