The Lamb
As a child addresses a little lamb, they marvel at all the wonders of God’s creation.
SATB a cappella chorus with divisi & Soprano Solo
“The Lamb” is a traditional sacred text used to represent the gentleness and innocence of God’s creations. This story offers a moment for spiritual discovery among the wonders we experience every day. Featuring meditative passages and contemporary harmonics, this is a fresh take on a classic text. Featuring a light soprano solo, the choir showcases a moment for the treble and lower voices. The piece ends with a mantra-like motive in the bass as it gently confirms the lamb is one of God’s creations and it too is a wonder.
Text
Little Lamb who made thee
Dost thou know who made thee
Gave thee life & bid thee feed.
By the stream & o’er the mead;
Gave thee clothing of delight,
Softest clothing wooly bright;
Gave thee such a tender voice,
Making all the vales rejoice!
Little Lamb who made thee
Dost thou know who made thee
Little Lamb I’ll tell thee,
Little Lamb I’ll tell thee!
He is called by thy name,
For he calls himself a Lamb:
He is meek & he is mild,
He became a little child:
I a child & thou a lamb,
We are called by his name.
Little Lamb God bless thee.
Little Lamb God bless thee.
