Were the World Mine
A vow to change the world if you could for the one you love.
SATB Chorus with divisi & Piano
Kevin Norman writes a beautiful love letter depicting how he would change the world for the one he loves. From every act of nature to the movement of animals, to the paths of the stars. This piece has a lilt to the music. An almost waltz-like feel to the setting. Set in a simple form, the words are the centerpiece of this work. Leaving room for melodies that intertwine and an atmospheric piano accompaniment. Were the World Mine is a dream we share with our loved ones. Although we cannot change the world, we can create a world with them in it.
Text
Were the world mine, I would make it just for you.
Every breeze would whisper your name
And carry it smoothly through autumn leaves.
Every wave would crash and collapse in surrender of your beauty.
Birds would sing of you day and night.
No wrong note would fill the earth,
And each creature would sing with the utmost delight.
No person or creature would ever harm you,
Nothing could come between us,
And no act nature break our bond.
The worlds light would shine for you.
You would be the sun and the moon,
And your incandescent smile the stars, I would orbit within your space.
Were the world mine, all of this would be true.
Yet the world is not mine, but you are my world.
