Noel, noel
A singable, universal melody coupled with gorgeous accompaniment for either harp or guitar.
Two voices (or parts) and harp or guitar
Equally accessible and deeply affecting, Paul John Rudoi’s “Noel, noel” is a new Christmas carol for our time. On the surface is a singable, universal melody coupled with gorgeous accompaniment for either harp or guitar. Yet it is Rudoi’s own lyrics, chronicling Jesus’ story from birth to death and beyond, that embody the full universality of the season and our own humanity.
Composer’s Notes
Don’t take the carol too slowly, and allow it to ebb and flow. As stated in the score, feel free to add variety by using a solo/duet on a few verses or changing up the suggested dynamics.

Text
Long ago a story told of a baby born so bold.
Noel, noel.
Little did we know that he would bring us humility.
Noel, noel.
We remember angels sang while the bells in heaven rang.
Glorifying one so small, born on Earth to save us all.
He grew up in times of hate slowly waiting for his fate.
Preaching faith and hope and love, God’s meek decree sent from above.
In due time he left the Earth scorned by those who loved him first.
Yet his message will not cease: More than passion we need peace.
Fait renewed for us this day, saints among us pause and pray.
Tired and weary we may be, we forever come to Thee.
